Snow Day!

Ok, so the snow day was yesterday, but I didn't get around to blogging about it until today. Why? Well, I got home from school Thursday excited that it was the only night that week I didn't have to work at Penney's (good job when you're there, just hard to get motivated to get there after a day at school). I watched the weather all night and kept seeing stars in the sky, no clouds in sight.

By the time I went to bed I was fairly confident the meterologists were totally wrong and we would be going to school on Friday (which is good) but that we also wouldn't even be getting a late start (something I always like!). I woke up at one in the morning for some water (it's dry in our house) and there were still stars in the sky. The same view greeted me at about 3:30 when I had to use the restroom. I was bummed. I'd looked forward to sleeping in, especially since I didn't seem to be sleeping well.

At 5:45 in the morning, the phone rang. It was Nancy, our principal. School was canceled. I couldn't believe it, I looked out the window and only saw 4-5 inches but as I let the dog out and talked to Duane (who was getting ready for work) we realized it was still coming down hard and the plows hadn't even been out much yet. WOO HOO!!! I was thinking I'd get SOOOO much done...after I took a nap on the couch (since Brandi wasn't about to let me crash in bed again).

Needless to say, by the time I decided to roll of the couch and stopped watching the movies that entertained me, I'd managed to do very little. What I DID do...went to vehicle registration to get my driver's license name switched, went to social security to do a new card, stopped by the bank and the insurance office for the same purpose, called the student loan office to get the name change info and automatic withdrawl set-up, and talked to my husband several times throughout the day about mortages and such. He must have been bored to call so many times in a day. He did call once with some news about my dad...he'd just heard him on the radio helping a motorist in the ditch when his squad car got schmucked with him in it. (HE's FINE...didn't even go home from work) I guess there is really no need to say that dad's day wasn't as slow as Duane's. Duane insists that drivers in Wisconsin must just be worse since there weren't so many accidents on this side of the border. Hmmm...I didn't see ANY cars in the ditch on my way to work.

Anyway, since I don't have a working camera at the moment, the pictures I've included are pretty snow day pics from around our beautiful (and sometimes humerous) area of the world...and of dad's squad car. Maybe those that will have to drive in the snow will SLOW DOWN and be more responsible to avoid accidents that might not turn out so lucky next time!
